Florida Fashion Club Recruits 76 Members

By Gigi Hooghkirk · On November 7, 2017

And it all happened on one day during Club Rush!

Gabrielle Nairne, FIDM Fashion Club President at Olympic Heights Community High School in Boca Raton, Florida, tells us how she recruited 76 members in a single day!

How did you recruit 76 members in a single day? We just really encouraged everyone to sign up at Club Rush. I think the primary reason for our success was the openness with which we promoted. We emphasized that our club was inclusive to anyone and did not require prior knowledge or experience in fashion.

Do you have any advice for other Fashion Clubs about recruitment? Make everyone feel included and approach everyone, even someone who may not seem interested, as you would anyone else. I also found it important to assure those interested that they would have input and influence over decisions made in the future of the club.

Tell us a little about yourself: I am an aspiring fashion designer. I was in the Fashion Academy which then morphed into Fashion Club. I was so motivated to continue on with fashion that I stayed in the club as Vice President for two years, and this year being my third year I am President. I have a wonderful executive board by my side including my Co-President Kadah Marshall and VP Bella Frasson, both aspiring high fashion models. I am so grateful for this opportunity and we plan to leave a lasting impression on our school!

What kinds of activities do you have planned for your club this year? We plan to do a fashion show, create beautiful pieces, and just have a lot of fun doing what we love which is fashion!

Anything else you’d like to share? We are very excited to be part of the FIDM Fashion Club Program! We all love fashion with a passion and want to make a good impact. We want Fashion Club to continue at our school even after we’ve graduated.
