Raise Funds

8 steps to planning your fundraiser.

Rodriguez H.S. Fundraiser

1. Ask your Fashion Club Advisor if you need school permission.

2. Decide on the type of fundraiser.

Recycling

Make recycling fun and stylish by creating decorative recycling bins to place around your school. Place Fashion Club signature recycling bins in the lunch areas and in classrooms, and watch them fill up. Collect the recyclables, bring them to your local recycling center, and cash them in for money for your club.

Clothing Swap

Host a clothing swap where you charge a small entrance fee. Have everyone bring in three garments they no longer want to swap them out for three items from someone else. Not only will students at your school get to go home with different things, your club will make money from the entrance fee.

Winter Jacket Clothing Drive

Host a clothing drive where your club collects gently used winter jackets from students at your school. Choose a charity, such as a homeless or women’s shelter, where the jackets would be needed.

Formal Dress Drive

Collect formal dresses from your classmates that they are no longer going to wear and donate them to students in need or organizations that provide prom dresses to high school students who can not otherwise afford them.

Sell Holiday-Themed Items

Sell holiday-themed items at school such as red and pink heart pins or bracelets for Valentine’s Day or pumpkin earrings for Halloween. The ideas are endless.

Bake Sale

Challenge everyone to bring a half or full dozen cupcakes for a Fashion Club bake sale. Why not make “designer” cupcakes and decorate them with the logos of famous designers: Chanel’s signature Cs, Louis Vuitton’s LV, and Fendi’s Fs? Work it out ahead of time so each club member is responsible for a certain set of designers.

Raffle

Contact local stores and businesses to donate items or gift cards for your raffle. Set up a Fashion Club table to promote the raffle, showcase the items, and sell tickets. Remember, the lower the ticket price the more people will buy. Encourage people to buy more than one ticket for a better chance to win. Sell tickets throughout the week and pick the winners on a Friday.

Collection Jars

Collection jars are great for raising money—most people are happy to donate their loose change. Find out if any parents or family members own their own businesses and see if they will place a Fashion Club collection jar at their register. Contact as many local businesses as possible to get your jars placed all around. Once you have local businesses on board, decorate your Fashion Club jars with bright colors and a cute slogan to attract attention. This is the perfect thing to promote on social media because it benefits you as well as the local business.

Partner with a Brand

Many restaurants already have programs in place to work with schools.

  • Rubios
  • Krispy Kreme
  • In-and-Out Burger
  • A local restaurant

3. Determine date and location.

4. Set a budget and track expenses as well as the money coming in.

5. Determine what supplies are needed and who will participate.

6. Stay organized! Use the Fundraising Journals in your High School or College President Handbook & Planner to keep you on track.

  • Create a schedule of all your fundraising goals.
  • Set deadlines for ticket distribution, money collection, and sign up days.

7. Assign responsibilities and delegate tasks.

8. Promote. Promote. Promote!

Once the fundraiser is over, don’t forget to record the money spent and the money earned on your Fashion Club Fund Tracker in the Fashion Club Handbook & Planner.
