Promote Your Club
7 promotional tips to spread the word.
1. Go social.
Create social media accounts for your FIDM Fashion Club on Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook. Post pictures and status updates about all the exciting things your club is doing and invite students to the events you are planning. Tweet a call-out for new members, and have your club members retweet it. Use the hashtag #FIDMFashionClub.
Twitter Tips
Create a handle with your school’s name and fashion club. For example: Noblesville High School Fashion Club is @nhs_fashionclub and Warren High School is @fashionclub_whs.
Who to follow:
- FIDM Fashion Club on Instagram @FIDMfFashionClub and Twitter @fashionclub
- FIDM on Instagram @FIDM and Twitter @FIDM
- Your school, student council, school district
- Local fashion boutiques
- Local charities you want your Fashion Club to work with
- Other official FIDM Fashion Clubs (to network with and get promotion ideas from)
2. Hand out flyers.
Make eye-catching flyers to hand out at school to attract people’s attention. We made two versions to help you out—you can download them from the Fun Printables section.
3. Hang up posters around campus.
Create your own original posters and promote your club the old-fashioned way around campus!
4. Write for your school’s blog, website, or newspaper.
Pitch the idea of doing a fashion column about trends or your club’s activities, fashion shows, volunteer news, etc. You will be helping out by providing content and in return you will gain valuable fashion writing experience while promoting your club and club members.
5. Ask your school to list your club on their website.
Be sure to have them include links to your social media accounts.
6. Make an announcement.
Promote your club with an announcement during the morning news. Catch the attention of fashion-loving students with a catchy opener like “Let the Fashion Begin” or “Runway Dreams Start Here” and promote club activities like “Fashion Club is making t-shirts at their meeting this week!” You can even have your club’s advisor make an announcement to all of their classes and members can do the same.
7. Write a press release.
Our clubs are known for putting on events such as fashion shows and charity fundraisers at their schools. One way to spread the word about your event is to send a press release to local media (TV or radio station, newspaper, blog, etc.) in hopes they will do a segment on your story. See our Tips for Writing a Good Press Release.
